  • They are disturbingly quiet. I rented an electric Civic a few months ago, and even as a driver I found it disconcertingly quiet. Clearly something is needed.

  • Hmm. I certainly hope not. My girl does know how to use a fork, though every now and then she forgets. Last night I caught her scooping corn into her mouth with her fingers. Ahh, to be a three-year old.

  • Regarding "dropouts" -- the overall dropout rate has been steadily decreasing since at least 1972, when the overall "status dropout rate" was 14.6%. Since 2000 it's been steady around 10%. It's the "gap" between race/ethnicities in how it's been dropping that's one key problem:

  • What frustrates me most is that, in the midst of the chatter and yelling on this issue, rational, reasonable discussion of how to best teach gets lost. Hopefully we can have some here. Why do people get so spun up on this issue -- on both sides?
